With the release of the iPhone and Android smartphones mobile internet usage is growing by leaps and bounds. Market research firm Gartner predict that by 2013 half of all internet accesses will be from mobile phones. The mobile internet generation is bypassing the traditional desktop PC altogether and using mobile phones for their increasingly connected lifestyle.
Mobile apps are already big business, worth over $4 billion in sales in 2009, and set to grow exponentially in the next few years.
Mobile apps offer novel ways of engaging with customers and new channels for marketing goods and services. Nearly every business now considers a website as an essential part of their business presence, pretty soon they will consider their own app essential too. |
